bretto alto

Bretto Alto is  accessible from the lower part of the hamlet via a steep mule track or a convenient road. The hamlet is made up of a handful of houses, including a former palace belonging to the Tasso family.

The building, now being restored, has some paintings in the centre of the façade: the family coat of arms, a lion of Saint Mark and a Madonna and Child between Saints Rocco and Catherine of Alexandria, protector of postal couriers.

The Tasso family lived in Bretto until the end of the eighteenth century when the last descendants settled in the palace of Comonte in Seriate, selling all the properties they owned in the hamlet.
